Luke Hoyer Athletic Fund was established a few years back in memory of Luke Hoyer (son of our Tom Hoyer) who tragically lost his life at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida a few years back.
This fund is specifically for the costs of athletic activities of children in the foster care system. This allows foster children the opportunity to experience an athletic activity. The Luke Hoyer Athletic Fund provides funds to support all sports related costs such as equipment, uniforms, practice gear, fees, travel fees, and the like.
Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach is an organization that provides help for the needy in the Grand Strand area.
Their mission is to support the stability of the community by providing basic needs and other services to empower individuals and families during a time of crisis.
Examples of services they provide to the needy are food, utility bill assistance, rent assistance, transportation assistance and more.
River Club has been delighting Myrtle Beach area golfers since its opening in 1985. Taking advantage of a beautiful piece of lowcountry land, architect Tom Jackson delivered a course that features water on 15 of 18 holes without overwhelming players. From an island green to risk-reward decisions, a round at River Club tests every part of a player’s game, and the experience is highlighted by the risk-reward par 5 18th hole. This finishing hole is one of the Myrtle Beach area’s most recognizable challenges, guaranteeing an unforgettable conclusion at a course that will become a regular part of your annual golf trip.
Thomas Walker has designed almost 30 golf courses in nearly 40 years, and one of his crowning jewels is the world-class course at the Founders Club at Pawleys Island, South Carolina, which opened in 2008.
Thomas Walker’s design philosophy can be summed up in one word: Excellence. “Every course we design has to be the best,” he says. “We strive to provide the most enjoyable golfing experience through excellent and exciting design.”

A "shamble" is a type of golf tournament format in which a team of golfers selects the one best drive among them after teeing off, then each play their own golf balls from that position into the hole. You can think of a shamble as a scramble off the tee and then regular stroke play into the hole. Shamble tournaments are sometimes called "brambles." Best score on the hole is what's counted
Part 1: A Scramble Off the Tee
Like in a scramble, all members of a team tee off and the best drive of the two tee shots is selected. All players move their balls to the location of that best drive. That is the location from which each golfer plays his or her second stroke. Therefore if Golfer B hits the best drive, Golfer A picks up their drive, walk over to the location of B's ball, and all play their next strokes from that location.
Part 2: 'Real Golf' Into the Hole
Once each golfer in a shamble plays his second stroke, he continues playing his own golf ball into the hole, in each case from wherever it lies. Advertisement No more choosing the best of the second shots, best of the third shots, etc., as you'd do in a scramble tournament. That scramble element is only used after the tee balls. After that, each golfer on a team plays his or her own ball into the hole. They play "real golf," in other words.
Scoring In a Shamble Tournament
The one low ball of the golfers on the team is the team score.
NOT ALLOWED TWO BALLS OFF FIRST TEE
A/B - Best Ball
C/D - Captains Choice
This means that A/B players play their own ball all the way in.
C/D golfers take the best drive and the best shot till its in the hole.
